FAQ

Baptism is a public declaration of your faith in Jesus and an important step in following Him. It’s a celebration of the new life you’ve received in Christ and a way to show others that you’ve committed to follow Him.

Baptism symbolizes the death of your old life and the beginning of a new life in Christ. Going under the water represents being buried with Jesus in His death, and coming out of the water represents being raised to new life in Him. It’s an outward sign of the inward change that has already taken place in your heart.

Baptism is for anyone who has made a personal decision to follow Jesus. Whether you’ve been a Christian for a short time or many years, if you’ve never been baptized as a public statement of your faith, this is for you.

Yes! At City Life, children in our Big Kids class (typically 8 years old and up) are eligible for baptism, provided they have a clear understanding of what baptism means and have made a personal decision to follow Jesus. We work with parents to ensure their child is ready and understands the significance of this step. If you’d like more guidance, we offer resources to help parents walk through this decision with their child.

You should get baptized after you have made the personal decision to follow Jesus. Baptism is not about having everything in your life perfectly in order but about publicly celebrating your faith and commitment to Him. If you’ve made that decision, now is a great time to take this step!

At City Life Church, we practice baptism by full immersion in water, in the name of the Triune God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Baptism is an important act of obedience and faith, but it is not what saves us. Salvation comes through faith in Christ alone. Baptism is a public declaration of that faith and an outward sign of the transformation that has already taken place in your heart.

If you’ve already been baptized after making a personal decision to follow Jesus, there’s no need to be baptized again. However, if you were baptized as an infant or before you made your own decision to follow Jesus, we encourage you to consider being baptized as a reflection of your personal faith journey.

Please bring a towel and a change of clothes. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting wet. A T-shirt will be provided for you to wear during your baptism. Don’t forget to invite family and friends to celebrate this special moment with you!

We will provide you with an opportunity to share your personal testimony. You can briefly share why you’ve chosen to get baptized and what Jesus has done in your life. If you need help preparing your testimony, we can offer guidance and examples to make it easier for you.
